The Sitr languages are a language family which contains all languages spoken by the Likepegs. Modern Standard Sitr is nowadays used as the modern standard variant of Sitr languages, and Classical Sitr is seen as the classical language.
All known Sitr languages are derived from Old Sitr, or Classical Sitr, like how all Romance languages are derived from Latin. Written records suggestive to a pre-Classical Sitr language are very scarce.
Variants of the Sitr languages are often seen as "dialects" of the same Sitr language instead of different languages of a language family by speakers of Sitr languages, this is due to the long history of political continuity and unity of Kompalia.
